Sisters of the Desert Sun Meet Author/Poet Niki Herd

Sisters of the Desert Sun will be hosting an afternoon with author and poet Niki Herd in July.  Herd, the author of The Language of Shedding Skin (Main Street Rag, 2010), is the recipient of grants from the Astraea Foundation and the Arizona Commission on the Arts, and fellowships from Cave Canem and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts.  Herd has been published in numerous forums, has served on the board of Kore Press, was nominated for a Pushcart Award, and won second place for the 2007 Astraea Emerging Lesbian Writer Award from the Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Social Justice. Herd grew up in Cleveland and earned degrees from the University of Arizona and Antioch University Los Angeles.
