"From Queens to Quantico: A United States Marine's Story" SDS Choice for June 2017

Supporting local author, Ahmad Daniels, Sisters of the Desert Sun put "From Queens to Quantico: A United States Marine's Story" on the list for June 2017.  

Daniels' memoir tells his story of leaving a culturally diverse neighborhood in the borough of Queens in New York City  and joining the Marine Corps during the height of the Civil Rights Movement and Vietnam War.  Daniels shares his experience with racism in the south and his courage to express his views with regard to the war.  His subsequent Court Marshall, imprisonment, defense by the ACLU and release from prison made headlines and a good read for our group.
