Making a Selection for Women's History Month
Women’s History Month is coming up and Sisters of the Desert Sun should begin to think about a selection for 2011. Last year our meeting included powerful discussions on Ensler’s book listed below and information regarding women’s heart health and tobacco cessation.
Here’s a list of past Women’s History Month selections and a list of recommendations for 2011:
2005 - The Country Under My Skin – Gioconda Belli
2006 - Women of Sand and Myrrh – Hanan Al-Shaykh
2007 - Falling Leaves: The Story of an Unwanted Chinese Daughter – Adeline Yen Ma
2009 - Bitter is the New Black – Jennifer Lancaster
2010 - A Memory, a Monologue, a Rant and a Prayer – Eve Ensler and Naked: Black Women Bare all about Their Skin, Hair, Lips and Other Parts – Ayana Byrd, Akiba Solomon
